News & Events : One-year anniversary of Chancellor Denton's passingRemembering Chancellor Denice Denton |
||||
|
We are saddened by the death of Denice Denton. The Women’s Center staff would like to remember her accomplishments as a scholar, educator and leader. We would like to celebrate her commitment to women and girls, note her bravery in being an “out” lesbian knowing there was so much more to who she was. With her family, her friends, her colleagues across the country, we grieve. We wish her family and friends support and time as your healing begins. Denice Denton will be missed and her legacy lives on in many places and ways. “It is not the end of the physical body that should worry us. Rather, our concern must be to live while we’re alive – to release our inner selves from the spiritual death that comes with living behind a façade designed to conform to external definitions of who and what we are.” Elizabeth Kübler-Ross |
