Overcoming Racism: A Letter to the Next Generation

 

        Michelle Watson was born on Oct. 27th , 1990 in Oakland, California and lived there until moving to attend UCSC. She is a first year at Oakes and decided to attend UCSC to get away from home. Being a Literature major, she hopes to start a career in publishing after she earns her master's degree. In her spare time, she likes to watch movies and TV, read books, sleep and shop. She is a self-proclaimed procrastinator, chocoholic and TV junkie. She gets her fix of television by watching shows such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Real World, Desparate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. She hopes to write a book someday, inspired by one of her favorite books, House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. A couple of her other favorites are The Flowers by Dagoberto Gilb and Not a Genuine Black Man by Brian Copeland.
