Supplemental Daily-A Scratch-Off Parking PassesFaculty, Staff and Graduate Students participating in the vanpool program may elect to receive approximately 4 complementary one-day “A” scratch-off parking permits a month for those times when a personal vehicle is necessary. Undergraduates are not eligible for supplemental parking permits. The parking passes are distributed at the beginning of the calendar year and expire at the end of the year. The number of permits is pro-rated when joining a vanpool after the first of the year. If a vanpool participant uses their full allotment of parking passes and additional parking passes are needed, a second packet of 50 day parking permits can be purchased if needed. Supplemental Metro Bus Pass Vanpool participants that choose not to receive the complimentary one-day “A” scratch-off parking permits can elect to receive an annual Staff/Faculty bus pass free of charge. The complimentary Staff/Faculty Metro bus pass is for the exclusive use of the vanpool participant and is not transferable to family members. Students are not eligible for the supplemental Metro bus pass; students show their UCSC ID card to ride Metro buses. Emergency Ride Home Program
Staff and Faculty that vanpool are eligible to enroll in the Emergency Ride Home Program. Once enrolled in
the program, you will receive
a voucher for
a
free taxi ride. When the time comes and you need an emergency ride,
you call the taxi company directly, let them know you have an ERH
voucher and order a cab ride giving thorough directions
to your campus pick–up location. Take Your Bicycle On The Vanpool All vanpool vehicles have bike racks that can carry up to 2 bikes. Participants can use a bike for part of the commute and avoiding the need for using a car to meet the vanpool. Bikes brought on the van can be used to get around campus or to go riding on surrounding trails. Access to the free shower facilities is available through the TAPS Bike N' Shower Program.
