About Visitor & Guest Parking & Permits

Visitors and guests may purchase one day temporary parking permits at the Main Entrance Kiosk located inside the campus main entrance, or at the TAPS Sales Office located in Barn H. Sales Office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. & Kiosk hours are 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A temporary one–day permit is $6.00. Night parking permits cost $2.00 per night. Guests and visitors from other UC campuses may be eligible for parking reciprocity when visiting UC Santa Cruz.

Visitors coming to campus for recreational purposes or to visit students may purchase temporary permits by the day, for up to a maximum of three consecutive days. A picture ID is required at the time of purchase. For short stays meters are available for $.25 per 10 minutes. Maps that indicate permit type and meter availability for each lot can be obtained at the Kiosk, the TAPS Sales Office and on–line.

Wondering about weekend parking permit requirements?

Campus departments expecting 15 or more vehicles needing to obtain parking permits at the Main Gate Kiosk must notify Event Parking Operations or complete the on–line event notification form, in advance, to arrange event parking.

Campus units expecting less than 15 vehicles may arrange for guest parking in advance by contacting the TAPS Sales Office at 831–459–4543. Guest or temporary permits may be ordered by departments, by recharge. Guests may pick–up guest parking permits at the Main Entrance Kiosk, if prearranged by departments. TAPS requests that units wishing to leave guest permit(s) for issuance, at the Main Entrance Kiosk or at TAPS Sales Office, provide an advance written request and instructions to the TAPS Sales Office during business hours. Departments expecting their guests to pay for a permit should advise the guest in advance of the cost of the permit. The cost is $6.00 per day or $2.00 per night, Monday through Friday, for a guest parking permit.

If your guest will be arriving after 8:00 p.m. you need to call the Main Entrance Kiosk and request that your guest(s) name be placed on the Campus Security "after hours" admittance list.
