How To Get To San Jose, Monterey & Salinas

Downtown San Jose & HP Pavilion

Take the Highway 17 Express bus from Santa Cruz Metro's Pacific station in downtown Santa Cruz to the San Jose Caltrain/Amtrak (Diridon) station. The San Jose Diridon station is located at 65 Cahill Street - just a short walk to the HP Pavilion and other downtown San Jose destinations.

Downtown Monterey & Monterey Bay Aquarium

At Santa Cruz Metro's Pacific station in downtown Santa Cruz take a Metro Route 71 Santa Cruz to Watsonville or a Route 91 Commuter Express to Watsonville. At Watsonville Center take MST (Monterey Salinas Transit) Route 27 Watsonville-Marina to the Marina Transit Exchange. At the Marina Transit Exchange take MST Line 16 Marina-Monterey. The 16 Line ends at the Monterey Transit Plaza in downtown Monterey - just a short walk from Monterey Fisherman's Wharf. To continue on to the Monterey Bay Aquarium transfer to Line 1 Pacific Grove.

Downtown Salinas & the Steinbeck Center

• At Santa Cruz Metro's Pacific station in downtown Santa Cruz take a Metro Route 71 Santa Cruz to Watsonville or a Route 91 Commuter Express to Watsonville. At Watsonville Center take MST (Monterey Salinas Transit) Line 28 to the Salinas Transit Center. The Steinbeck Center is located across the street from the Salinas Transit Center.

• Combine Bus & Train Travel: Take the Highway 17 Express bus from Santa Cruz Metro's Pacific station in downtown Santa Cruz. To make the train connection at the San Jose Amtrak station take the Highway 17 bus that departs Santa Cruz at 7:55am on weekdays; 8:40am on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. The Amtrak Coast Starlight departs from the San Jose train station once per day at 10:07 am. The Coast Starlight train stops in Salinas. The Steinbeck Center is .2 of a mile from the Amtrak station. For the return trip the Coast Starlight train stops in Salinas going to San Jose in the early evening. Check the Amtrak website for the current schedule.
