Pedestrian Access During McHenry Library Addition & Renovation Project

During the first phase of construction, public access to the McHenry Library Foyer will remain open from the north side of the building, but closed from the south. Pathways from Hahn Student Services and Kerr Hall will remain open, with shuttle access provided from the Core Route bus stops immediately north of McHenry on Steinhart Way. The pedestrian path/stairs between the Academic Resources Center (ARC) and McHenry Library will be closed during construction. Pedestrian access from the south (ARC, Music Center, PA parking lot) will be directed through Baskin Visual Arts to a pathway extending northeast to the McHenry Access Road. From there, pedestrians will be directed north along the existing service road to the north side of the Library and Steinhart Way (see map). The signal-controlled section of the McHenry Access Road will be closed to public access north of the ARC driveway. Since this will serve as the primary access route for construction vehicles, it is especially important that pedestrians and bicycles avoid this route.
