About Payment Options

Know your payment options - check below for information about what payment options are available for the type of permit you want to purchase.

The following types of parking permits and commute programs are available by payroll deduction to those that qualify: Multi-year "A" (close-in) parking permit, Multi-Year "MC" Motorcycle parking permit, and Annual "A" (close-in) parking permit, Annual "R" Remote Lots parking permit, Annual "MC" Motorcycle parking permit, Annual "A" Limited Day (close-in) parking permit, Annual "A" Carpool parking permit, "R" Carpool parking permit, UCSC Vanpools, and Annual Staff/Faculty Metro Bus Pass. Multi-year permits do not need to be renewed from year to year. Annual permits are valid from July 1st, or from any date of purchase after July 1, through the following June 30th.

The following are available only by cash, check or credit card: Daily-A Scratch-Off Parking Permit Packet, Quarterly "A" parking permit, Quarterly "A Limited Day" parking permit, Quarterly "A Carpool" parking permit, and Temporary Day, Week or Month "A", "R" or "MC" Motorcycle parking permits.

The following permits and programs are available at no cost: Free Remote Motorcycle parking permit (application is required), TAPS Bike Shuttle, Bike N' Shower Program (sign-up is required), and Emergency Ride Home Program (application is required).

How To Apply for a Parking Permit or Metro Bus Pass

1. Obtain the necessary documentation to present to the TAPS Sales Office required to purchase a parking permit, to receive a bus pass or to enroll in a commute program.

• Faculty – a copy of your Academic Letter of Appointment is required.
• Staff – a copy of your ER Form (Staff Employee Req)is required.


2. TAPS will need to know a)the duration on your appointment, b) the percentage of time you were hired at and c) what bargaining unit, if any, represents your position.

• Faculty – The above information can be ascertained from a copy of your Academic Letter of Appointment. Bring a copy along to the TAPS Sales Office or fax it to 831–459–1366.
• Staff - The pertinent information can be found on your ER Form (Staff Employee Req).
Take a copy to the TAPS Sales Office or fax it to 831–459–1366.


3. For parking permits submit a copy of your vehicle registration; we need to know your vehicle license plate number(s); can be faxed to (831) 459-1366, sent to the TAPS Sales Office through campus mail, or delivered in-person to the TAPS Sales Office.


4. Got your paperwork in order? If you want to do everything electronically just fax your Academic Letter of Appoinment (Faculty) or your Staff ER form to 831–459–1366 and complete an on-line application. Please allow a minimum of 72 hours for processing and plus time for campus mail delivery of your parking permit or bus pass to your on–campus location (longer during quarter start times). Please note: TAPS does not mail Scratch-off Packets; arrange for pick up at the Main Entrance Kiosk.

You can also visit the TAPS Sales Office in person during regular business hours; 7:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday to obtain your parking permit or your Staff/Faculty Metro Bus Pass.
