following information is provided to inform new UC Santa Cruz employees about
parking permit and
commute alternative options at UC Santa Cruz, including links to information about carpooling and UCSC vanpools.
Best Parking Permit Options for Full-time Employees
Employees that work full-time should consider purchasing one of the following types of parking permits:
• Multi-Year (Non-Expiring) "A" Close-In Parking Permit or "MC" Motorcycle Parking Permit.
• Annual "A" Close-in Parking Permit, Annual "R" Remote Lot Parking Permit or Annual "MC" Motorcycle Parking Permit.
• Annual "N" Night Parking Permit for those that start work after 3:30 p.m.
Best Parking Permit Options for Part-time Employees
• Daily "A" Scratch-off Packets - a packet of 50 daily "A" parking permits that are used as needed by the employee. Scratch-off packets can take up to 72 hours from the time of application to prepare; packets must be picked up from the Main Entrance Kiosk - TAPS does not mail out scratch-off packets.
• Daily "R" Scratch-off Packets - a packet of 25 daily "R" Remote parking permits that are used as needed by the employee. Scratch-off packets can take up to 72 hours from the time of application to prepare; packets must be picked up from the Main Entrance Kiosk - TAPS does not mail out scratch-off packets.
• Quarterly "A" Close-in Parking Permit
• "A" Limited Day Parking Permit - those that work a regular schedule of 1, 2, 3, or 4 days per week should
consider purchasing
an "A" Limited Day permit; valid in all "A" and
remote parking lots on campus. This permit is offered on an Annual or Quarterly
basis and requires
a pre–designated
schedule of 1, 2, 3, or 4 days per week. The permit is valid only
on the days of the week the purchaser designates and schedule must
remain
the same for the entire period of purchase.
Eligible Faculty and Staff may purchase their Annual "A" Limited Day permit by payroll deduction; permits must be returned to TAPS if days needed change. "A" Limited Day Permits may be augmented by purchasing a scratch-off packet.
• Quarterly "N" Night Permit for those that start work after 3:30 p.m.
Best Parking Permit Options for Those That Drive Only Occasionally
Employees that use other commute modes such as bicycling, bus and walking but need to drive to campus occasionally should consider the following:
• Daily "A" Scratch-off Packets - Packets of 50 daily "A" parking permits that are used as needed by the employee. Scratch-off packets can take up to 3 days to prepare; packets must be picked up from the Main Entrance Kiosk - TAPS does not mail out scratch-off packets.
• Daily "R" Scratch-off Packets - a packet of 25 daily "R" Remote parking permits that are used as needed by the employee. Scratch-off packets can take up to 72 hours from the time of application to prepare; packets must be picked up from the Main Entrance Kiosk - TAPS does not mail out scratch-off packets.
