How To Get To San Rafael, Petaluma & Santa Rosa

UCSC Fremont BART Connector - combine travel on the UCSC Fremont BART Connector bus, BART trains and Golden Gate Transit buses to get to San Rafael and Santa Rosa. The UCSC Fremont BART Connector bus operates during Fall, Winter and Spring quarters on Fridays and Sundays. Buses depart from campus twice on Fridays and Sundays and go directly to the Fremont BART station. At the Fremont BART station transfer to a Richmond BART train. Get off at the Richmond BART station and walk to the northeast corner of the station, Macdonald Ave. & 19th St to board Golden Gate Transit Bus #40/42/San Rafael (weekdays) or #42/San Rafael (weekends). Get off at the San Rafael Transit Center and go to the S.W. Corner at 3rd St. & Hetheron St. to board Golden Gate Transit Bus #70/80/Santa Rosa to go to the Santa Rosa Transit Mall. Some, but not all, #70/80 buses stop in Ignacio, Novato, Petaluma, Cotati and Rohnert Park.

Greyhound - Buses depart once per day from the Santa Cruz Greyhound station located at 425 Front St. (next to Santa Cruz Metro's Pacific station) going to Oakland where a transfer is made to go to San Rafael and Santa Rosa. Schedule is subject to change; contact the service provider for current schedule.

Combine Bus & Train Travel - Take the Highway 17 Express bus from Santa Cruz Metro's Pacific station in downtown Santa Cruz to the San Jose Diridon train station.

Option 1: At the San Jose Diridon train station take the Amtrak Capitol Corridor train to Martinez. At the Martinez station transfer to the Amtrak Thruway bus from Martinez to Santa Rosa.

Option 2: At the Diridon station take a northbound Caltrain to the San Francisco Station (end of the Caltrain line). From the San Francisco Caltrain station take San Francisco Muni Route 47 to 7th and Harrison (5 minute ride). Get off the Muni and walk to 7th and Folsom (3 minute walk). At 7th and Folsom board the Golden Gate Transit Route 72 (commuter bus), which stops in Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa.
