About the Emergency Ride Home Program for Staff & Faculty

Through enrollment in the Emergency Ride Home program UCSC staff and faculty that commit to using a commute alternative one or more times a week have access to a free cab ride home when you have an emergency during regular work hours, and rode the bus, bicycled, carpooled, vanpooled, or walked to work that day. Interested UCSC Staff and Faculty can send an email inquiry to find out about eligibility for the ERH program, or stop by the TAPS Sales Office.

Once enrolled in the program, you will receive a voucher for a free taxi ride. When the time comes and you need an emergency ride, you call the taxi company directly, let them know you have an ERH voucher and order the cab ride (make sure to give complete directions to your pick–up location). Taxi service should arrive within 15 minutes of your call. When you reach your destination, fill out the voucher, pull off your copy and hand the rest to the cab driver. That's it, we take it from there.

Vouchers are valid until cancelled by the employee or TAPS. When you use your original voucher simply request a new voucher from the TAPS Sales Office. There is no charge for the ERH program. For assistance with ERH voucher replacement send us an email or call the TAPS Sales Office at 831–459–4543.
