Commute Solutions will provide you with a listing of others interested in sharing a ride. If you commute to UC Santa Cruz from the Bay Area Rideshare 511 may be able to help you find a carpool through their on–line ride match service.

About "A" Carpool Permits

“A Carpool” permits for close–in parking can be purchased by two or more persons, one of which must be faculty or staff, that routinely ride together. All members must live off–campus in non-University housing; each member must have a vehicle registered to them. “A Carpool” permits are valid in all “A” lots and Remote lots. The permit cost is split by members. All members of the carpool must complete a separate application. Only one permit is issued. Annual “A Carpool” permits must be purchased by payroll deduction when all carpool members are eligible for payroll deduction. Employees not eligible for payroll deduction may purchase a Quarterly “A Carpool” permit. When faculty or staff carpool with a graduate or undergraduate student only a Quarterly “A Carpool” permit may be purchased. “A Carpool” permit holders (eligible Faculty and Staff only) may purchase one “Daily–A–Packet” per year. Graduate students may purchase one reduced price “Daily–B–Packet” when carpooling with faculty or staff. Undergraduate students in carpools with graduate students or faculty and staff are not eligible for this option and their vehicle license plates will not be listed on any scratch–off permit (Daily–A–Packet permit).

About "B" Carpool Permits

“B Carpool” permits for close–in parking can be purchased by two or more commuting students that routinely ride together. Eligibility for a “B Carpool” permit requires two students living off–campus, one of which must be a graduate student, who each have vehicles registered to them or an immediate family member. The cost of the carpool permit is split between the members. All members of the carpool must complete a separate application. Only one permit is issued. “B Carpool” permits are available on an Annual, Academic Year or Quarterly basis. Eligible “B Carpool” permit holders may purchase one “Daily–B–Packet” of 50 Daily “B” permits per year.

About "C" Carpool Permits

“C Carpool” permits may be available to commuting, nonresidential undergraduate students, and are sold on a first–come, first–serve basis. Eligibility for a “C Carpool” permit requires two undergraduate students living off–campus, in non–University housing, that routinely ride together, who each have vehicles registered to them or an immediate family member. The permit cost is split by members. All members of the carpool must complete a separate application. Only one permit is issued. “C Carpool” permits are sold by Academic Year only.

About "R" Remote Lot Carpool Permits

“R Carpool” permits for parking in the campus remote lots can be purchased by up to four people that routinely ride together. A limited number of “R Carpool” permits are issued on a first–come, first–serve basis. Eligibility for an “R Carpool” permit requires two to four students, faculty and staff living off–campus, who each have vehicles registered to them. “R Carpool” permits are valid in all Remote lots. The permit cost is split by members. All members of the carpool must complete a separate application. Only one permit is issued. “R Carpool”” permits are available on an academic year basis only. Students have the option of charging their share of the cost of an “R Carpool” permit to their student billing account. Faculty and staff that participate in the “R Carpool” program and are eligible for payroll deduction may be purchase their share of the cost of the permit through payroll deduction.
