Parking Information for College Move In 2009

Follow the Signs
Your instructions will tell you to look for signs at the main campus entrance marked “WEST” (for west colleges) or “EAST” (for east colleges). By following the appropriate signs, you will eventually come to your college’s Move In staging area.

Check-In
When you arrive at your college Move In staging area, check in with the residential staff. There may be a waiting period before you are released from the staging area to move into the dorms or apartments. You will then follow college-specific signs to your designated unloading parking lot.

Parking Permits
All colleges issue a “Move In Pass” to serve as both a temporary parking pass (to allow you to unload vehicles near dorms) and a remote parking permit for your assigned move-in day only. This “Move In Pass” is only valid in parking lots posted as “Move In” lots, and only for the day of your scheduled move in.

The Parking Sales Office (map) sells temporary parking permits for students, family and friends who plan to have a car on campus before or after their move-in date. Students who are eligible for parking permits, and who plan to purchase a permit for the academic year, will need a temporary permit until they pick up their permanent permit from the Parking Sales Office.

In addition, students who are not normally eligible for parking permits will be able to purchase a permit for a one-week period following Move In (September 21st – September 25th). These permits are valid in remote lots only.

Please note:
* All vehicles on campus must display a valid parking permit.
* One-day “R” Remote permits are $4; weekly permits are $18. They are valid for parking in one of the three remote lots (East, West, and North).
* A vehicle license plate number or the last 6 digits of your VIN are required for each permit.

If you have questions about parking permits, please e-mail taps@ucsc.edu or call 831-459-4543.

Parking
One hour free parking will be available in the lower Hahn parking lot from Thursday, September 17th through Tuesday, September 22nd. This will allow easy access to Hahn Student Services and/or the Bay Tree Bookstore.

Half-hour free parking will be available in Parking Lot 116 near the TAPS Sales Office (map) for permit renewal from Thursday, September 17th through Friday, Oct 2nd (weekdays from 7:00am- 5:00pm).

Remember:  All residential first and second-year students must remove their vehicles from campus by Sunday, September 27, 2009 unless a parking exception by appeal has been granted. Temporary permits will not be issued beyond that time to students who have appeals pending.
