2012 Service Recognition Ceremony

Silver Slug Individual Service Award

Criteria for Candidacy:

Individual students who have provided 1-2 quarters of service to the campus and/or local communities while at UCSC are encouraged to apply for this award. Criteria necessary to be considered for this award include:

  • Completion of extended service within the past academic year (Summer 2010-present)
  • Written description detailing the type of service provided
  • Written description of the impact their involvement has had on the community and themselves
  • One letter of recommendation from a person who lives or works in the community who can speak to service completed

While all students will receive recognition for their contributions, one outstanding student will be selected from each category for her/his exemplary service efforts.

To Nominate an Individual Student Volunteer: 

Community organizations, staff, faculty, community members, or students may nominate any UCSC member(s) for their outstanding volunteer efforts. Please complete the Individual Nomination Form to nominate a recipient for the Silver award.


To Nominate Yourself:

  1. Verify you meet the criteria for candidacy.
  2. Complete the online student application form (below).
  3. Submit one letter of recommendation to:

  4. We encourage you to submit photos of your volunteer experience
    for inclusion in the awards ceremony to the address above.*
  5. All materials must be completed and submitted by 5pm Monday, May 9th
  6. Students are only eligible to apply for one award.
* Photos will not be reviewed or taken into consideration in the selection process.
