Greek Org Service Award

Criteria for Candidacy

All UCSC Greek organizations that have provided service for the campus and/or local communities during the 2011-12 academic year are encouraged to apply for the Greek Organization Service Award. 

This award category recognizes Greek organizations that have done a remarkable job in making an impact on the UCSC and Santa Cruz community. Because we believe community service is a vital component to enrich each student's learning experience here at UCSC, it is important to recognize Greek Organizations and the contributions they make. Criteria necessary to be considered for this award include:
  • Completion of extended service within the past academic year (Summer 2010-present)
  • Written description detailing the type(s) of service provided by your organization
  • Written description of the impact your organization's involvement has had on the community and your members
  • One letter of recommendation from a member of the community where the most valuable service has occurred who can speak to service completed

While all Greek Organizations will receive recognition for their contributions, one outstanding Greek Org will be selected for their exemplary service efforts.

To Nominate a UCSC Greek Organization: 

Community organizations, staff, faculty, community members, or students may nominate any UCSC member(s) for their outstanding volunteer efforts. Please complete the Nomination Form to nominate a Greek organization (you are not affiliated with) for this award.

To Nomibnate Your Greek Organization:

  1. Verify your Greek organization meets the criteria for candidacy above
  2. Complete the online application form (below)
  3. Submit one letter of recommendation to:

  4. We encourage you to submit photos of the volunteer experience
    for inclusion in the awards ceremony to the address above.*
  5. All materials must be completed and submitted by 5pm Monday, May 9th
  6. Students are only eligible to apply for one award
* Photos will not be reviewed or taken into consideration in the selection process.
