In response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita to the Gulf Coast in 2005, Student Advocacy for Equitable Recovery was created by Tulane University students to address the expressed needs of their community.
SAFER does so by engaging students locally and globally in the recovery effort while providing rebuilding assistance and case management services to families struggling to move back home.
This year SVC sent an Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans to help SAFER rebuild the city. The group worked on 3 different homes throughout the city, helping to paint the exterior of one and install drywall in the other two. If you would like to participate in the next trip, contact SVC today!
