Mission Statement

The mission of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a community-based service-learning program over spring break. SVC hopes that this experience will allow participants to become more thoughtful and engaged citizens who will continue to work for social change.

Project

In the past, SVC has worked with SAFER (Student Advocacy for Equitable Recovery), a student-led recovery initiative run by Tulane University students, focusing on a first-hand look at the social, economic, historical, and cultural tensions of the region in an attempt to better understand the difficulty of the recovery effort in New Orleans. Unfortunately, this specific program in New Orleans is no longer an option within the constraints of our budget and staff support. SVC still plans on hosting an Alternative Spring Break program with the larger program goal in mind, and we are in the process of determining a more financially feasible option. We are open to any ideas that may you have regarding a service-learning program option within the state of California. Please feel free to contact SVC via email, phone, or office hours with your ASB proposals!
