Ellen Suckiel: Provost

As the Provost of Stevenson, I am the senior academic officer of the college. I am responsible for the general intellectual life of the college, including our academic and advising programs. I oversee all college courses, including the core course, as well as college scholarships and student project funding. I sponsor lectures by faculty and other distinguished scholars throughout the year, and develop programs—such as the faculty-student mentor program— to support students studies within our residential environment. I also serve on the Council of Provosts and a variety of other university-wide committees to ensure the Colleges interests are represented. My goal is to work closely with the Provost, other staff colleagues, and students at Stevenson to create the best possible living and learning environment for our college community. Primary areas of responsibility include residential life and housing, college programs, facilities and fiscal management. When I’m in, the door is usually open. Rachel Jablon: Associate College Administrative Coordinator

I have general oversight of the Student Life component of Stevenson College. This includes responsibility for the Residential Life, Housing Program, College Programs and Judicial Affairs. I work collaboratively with the college staff, the Provost and students, forming a team that provides you with the best social, educational, multicultural, and recreational opportunities possible. We are dedicated to making your residential college experience a positive one! If you have a chance, come by for some conversation & chocolates.

Marie Yoo: Senior Academic Preceptor

As an adviser, I provide assistance in academic planning, administrative policies and procedures and assist students in utilizing the resources and opportunities available on campus. I also work collaboratively with staff of various units to develop and implement events and programs geared to enhancing academic and personal success.

Michelle Taylor-Kalus: Academic Adviser / Academic Programs Coordinator

Like the other Stevenson advisers, I answer questions about all aspects of academic life. As the Academic Programs Coordinator I am responsible for Stevenson College Scholarships, Student Project Funds, and the Stevenson Core Course

Mary Alvarez: Academic Adviser

As one of the Stevenson advisers, I help students with all aspects of their academic goals. Besides helping students choose courses, decide on a major, work out enrollment problems, get help with their academic standing, and navigate the university bureaucracy, I like to help students take advantage of the many educational opportunities available at UCSC (Education Abroad, UCDC, internships, research, individual study and more) and seek out faculty mentors.

Gustavo Nolazco: College Assistant, Records Coordinator & Mail Services Supervisor

When you have any general question come see me in the College Office. I am familiar with the college and university services, and can be a valuable resource for you. I provide general support to the staff such as scheduling meetings for the CAO and Academic Advisors. I maintain your academic file with your unofficial transcripts, and petitions. I also maintain the student roster, mail box assignments and maintain schedule for the Silverman Coference Rooom (Stevenson 131).

Michael Tassio: Provost Assistant

Michael’s primary duties are to the Provost, organizing academic, alumni, and student events on a number of interesting topics that attract a wide range of the campus community. (For information on upcoming events visit the "Academic Events" webpage.) In addition, Michael is the webmaster for this website and a Core Course Instructor for Stevenson College.

Liz Cowan: Financial Specialist

As the Financial Specialist, I handle the budget, reporting and financial transactions for the college. I’m also the person you’ll come to if you are awarded Student Project Funds.

College Programs Coordinator

Lauren Dun: Assistant College Programs Coordinator

The Program Assistants and I work closely with the College Programs Coordinator and Residential Life Staff on various events held at Stevenson. I maintain the schedule for the Fireside Lounge, and coordinate Summer Orientation. I also produce other publicity materials that come from the Programs Office.

Linda Hart: Housing Coordinator

I assist the Associate CAO for Student Life and coordinate roommate assignments, meal plan changes, room switches, key replacements, check-in and check-out procedures, house inspections, and general office assistance. If you have housing concerns, please stop by the Residential Life and Housing Office, in House 9 of the apartments.

Jake Renew: Senior Building Maintenance Worker

I am responsible for the day-to-day student residence maintenance concerns. I also supervise a student work crew to assist in repairs and general upkeep. I can be reached in the downstairs shop in House 5, by phone (459-5264), or via the fixit website.

Darlene Denny: Gardener

I am responsible for maintaining the grounds at Stevenson, and keeping the grassy knoll green and beautiful flowers blooming throughout Stevenson. If you have any question you can contact me at (831) 459-5125.

John Hadley: Coffee House Manager

I supervise the day-to-day operation of the Stevenson Coffee House. I have 25-30 student employees that serve specialty coffees, homemade baked goods soups, salads, and sandwiches at very reasonable prices. The Coffee House is home to lively music, informal student/faculty interactions, biweekly art shows and more. I can be reached for catering, comments, compliments and any feed back Monday through Friday at (831) 459-2433.

The CSOs are here to guarantee and ensure your privacy and well being by enforcing college and university policies at night. We are available for any and all emergencies which may occur from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., seven days a week, including holidays and campus closures. If you need any type of assistance or just need a resource for many of your campus questions call 459-2100 and a CSO will be radio dispatched to you.
