Grainger Hunt, Ron Jackman, Brian Latta, and Terry Hunt were principles involved in golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) work under a program designed by Grainger Hunt. Our associate Daniel Driscoll was a key player as well. Dr. Grainger Hunt uses an airplane to monitor the survival and movements of golden eagles fitted with backpack-style radio transmitters near Livermore, California. Significant breakthroughs in understanding of raptor mortality factors have resulted from these studies.
In cooperation with the National Park Service and the Nature Conservancy, SCPBRG has recently relocated golden eagles in the northern Channel Islands of California, to help protect the island fox.
