Nest Cam - San Francisco

George and GracieHistory: In 2005 a camera was set up at a peregrine falcon nest on the northwest corner of the Pacific Gas & Electric Company headquarters building in downtown San Francisco. A pair of peregrines, known as George and Gracie, created a nest on the 33rd floor ledge of the building, producing four offspring, three of which successfully fledged in June. We appreciate PG&E’s partnership to make this wildlife viewing opportunity possible

In 2006 the falcons moved across the street to 201 Mission St. where we re-positioned the camera for the 2006 Season.

In 2007, George and Gracie initially made their nest on the Bay Bridge, off camera. Due to the precarious location of the new nest, SCPBRG biologists removed the eggs from the bridge on March 30, and transferred them to their Santa Cruz facility to hatch.

Much to everyone's surprise, George and Gracie were spotted in the PG&E nestbox on April 11 and 12th, and will hopefully lay a second clutch of eggs soon.

For more news on the progress of the eggs this season, see the 2007 Nest Diary.
