The Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group web site has been designed to conform to the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) XHTML 1.0 Transitional standards, to allow page content to be viewed as consistently as possible between various platforms and browsers.

Some components of this site have been constructed using Java and Adobe Flash technologies.  Adobe Flash Player 8 or higher is recommended to view some graphical content on this site (i.e. videos, image galleries etc.).  Flash is not used to portray critical content on this site.  This site uses CSS for all navigation menus.

Security and Privacy Policy

The Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group is committed to protecting your privacy when you visit this Web site. Any information collected from you by SCPBRG is used to improve our site, respond to your questions and process online donations.

Information Collection

We collect the following types of information from our Web site:

Web server traffic information - This information is used to determine the number of visitors to our site, length of stay and sources of traffic. We may collect aggregate data per a specific domain, but do NOT collect information that would identify individual users. We use this information to assess site usage, and to help guide future improvements to the SCPBRG site.

Personal information collected from this site - SCPBRG collects e-mail addresses and other personal information only when you provide it to us. If you submit a form via this site, request information or make a donation, we may collect your name, address, city, state, zip code, telephone number and/or e-mail address.

Use of Personal Information

Donations - The SCPBRG does not disclose our Web site visitor’s personal information to others outside of the SCPBRG and the University of California, nor does it lease, sell, or trade such information.

SCPBRG takes every precaution to protect your personal information. Your personal information is kept strictly confidential and stored in a secure environment. Access to your information is restricted to use by authorized UCSC/SCPBRG staff with a specific, legitimate business purpose (i.e. access to information provided by you to process online donations).

Discussion Forums - Please remember that any information you publically disclose on the SCPBRG-hosted discussion forums becomes public information. Personal identity and account information is not disclosed by SCPBRG staff.  SCPBRG is not responsible for the use of any information willingly disclosed by you to third-party hosting services (for example Yahoo Groups).
