Greetings! I am a second year member of
the Staff Advisory Board and an old time
slug. I earned by BA at UCSC, (in the last
century!), and have worked on campus for
20 years. My current position is Undergraduate

On a personal note I am a novice knitter,

Personal Statement:
Thanks to everyone for the opportunity to serve
on the SAB. I am very excited about this opportunity
to learn more about the big picture of how the
University is structured and hopefully make a
difference for the betterment of the staff as
a whole.
I have worked here since 1998 and have been involved
in training staff for all of the departments on
the use of our financial software system. This
has enabled me to hear many of the issues and
concerns that staff have throughout the University.
I look forward to working on the committees listed
above and contributing to the many activities
that the SAB provides for staff. If you have questions
or concerns, please feel free to call me at 9-5130
or email at ricki@ucsc.edu.

Statement:
Hi UCSC Community,
Thank you for your nomination to the Staff
Advisory Board. Please let me know what I can
do for you. I'm ready to make a positive difference
at UCSC from a broader context. I graduated
from UCSC with a Bachelor's degree in Economics
in 1994 (Stevenson alum) and from University
of Washington (UW) with a Master's degree in
Public Administration in 1997. I've worked,
here at UCSC, since 1998. I also worked as as
student employee and was a member of student
government while I was a student at UCSC and
UW. In 2005-06, I served, as staff representative,
on the Campus Welfare Committee. I'm currently
the Business, Administrative & Student Corps
Manager and Campus Student Regent Recruitment
Coordinator at the Bay Tree Conference &
Career Centers. I am truly blessed by the folks
I work for and work with, here at the University.
It is a privilege, pleasure, and honor to serve
in another new capacity at UCSC. I look forward
to working with and for you in the years to
come.
On a personal note, I love meeting new people,
traveling, speaking new languages, learning,
working out, nature, music, and most importantly,
chocolate.
Respectfully,
Cyndi Edinger

Personal
Statement:
Hello UCSC Community Members, when I moved
to Santa Cruz and starting working at
UCSC I was very impressed with the people
of this community and their desire to
create positive change. This position
has provided me with a unique opportunity
to partake in this process. I believe
my diverse background will allow me to
provide an alternative perspective for
the campus community. I have had the chance
to live in many different countries and
experience many different cultures, each
of which has imparted their own outlook
upon my world view. This will be another
exciting opportunity for me to expand
my horizons and contribute to a community
that I admire. Thanks so much for this
great opportunity that honors me.

Personal
Statement:
Hello fellow Slug staff,
It is an honor and with great pleasure
that I join the Staff Advisory Board.
I look forward to engaging with staff
from all over campus during the course
of the academic year and bringing staff
issues to the front of the eyes and ears
of the administration at UCSC. I grew
up the second oldest of eight children
in the Los Angeles area and received my
BA in History from UCLA in 1997. Fortunately,
I arrived at lovely Santa Cruz in the
Fall of 2003. I have worked at UCLA, UC
Davis, and now at UCSC, in the Financial
Aid department and currently as an Academic
Counselor at EOP (Educational Opportunities
Program). EOP represents the UC's effort
to identify, retain, and graduate a diverse
student body and with that mission in
mind, we strive to promote the retention,
academic success, and graduation rates
of first generation college, low-income,
and educationally disadvantaged student
populations, and to assist these students
with preparation for admission to graduate
and professional schools.
On a personal note, I am currently studying
at night for a Master's degree in Public
Policy (focusing on areas of Social/Health
and Education policy). In my spare time,
I love to go camping, backpacking, play
guitar, enjoy live music performance,
and spending time with my wife, 16 month
old daughter, family and friends. Thank
you for your vote of confidence in allowing
me to represent you at UCSC. Please don't
hesitate to contact me concerning staff
issues on campus.
Sincerely,
Eric

Personal
Statement:
Greetings! I first fell in love with this
campus in the late 80's as an Art History
undergrad and decided to continue on in
Education as a grad student. I went off
into "the real world" to work in the software
and tech industry. These pursuits, while
profitable, left no room for quality of
life experiences. I came back to UCSC
to take back my life and health and stayed
because of the setting, the people, and
the prevalent belief that there IS life
after work every day! I believe this is
why many people choose to work at UCSC,
and as a SAB member, I want to maintain
and grow those areas that make UCSC the
place we "choose" to stay, not "have"
to stay.
My other interests at this time are animal
advocacy. I am the Chair of the Board
of Directors of Friends of Santa Cruz
County Animals, a new non-profit started
up to give "above and beyond" care to
homeless animals at local shelters, and
I have been a shelter volunteer for over
6 years doing animal fostering, web work,
fund raising, and adoption counseling.
I am doing OK with only 1 dog, 3 cats,
5 rats and 4 bunnies.

Statement:
Hello. I'm happy to be a member of the
Staff Advisory Board. I've been a member
of the campus community for 30 years,
starting, like many staff, as a student.
I have held numerous staff positions in
a wide range of units from Counseling
and Psychological Services, to Staff HR,
to Biology, to Kresge College. For the
past 10 years, my home on campus has been
advising transfer students and running
the STARS program at Kresge. I'm excited
to join a group of interested community
members during this critical time of campus
change. I welcome input, ideas and concerns
from other staff and hope I can be of
service.

Statement:
Hello Everyone,
I am very happy that I have the opportunity
to represent the staff here at UCSC. I
have been a member of this community since
1982, as a student, a resident and an
employee. In my job, as the Event Parking
Manager for Transportation and Parking
Services, I am fortunate to meet and work
with a number of people across campus,
and I also have a good understanding about
what UCSC is, was, and what we would like
it to be. My hope is to help build community
by sharing my insight and knowledge of
our campus.
I am the Chairperson of the campus Event
Coordination Committee, Chair of the Construction
Impacts Committee, and the Chairperson
for the Commencement and Move In Committees.
It is on honor to be on the Staff Advisory
Board now as well. Thank you, Please let
me know if there is anything I can do
for you.

Personal
Statement:
Hello everyone. Thank you for the opportunity
to serve on the Staff Advisory Board,
I am very excited about my first year.
In my 30 years at the University, the
best plans and programs have come from
efforts which include and engage.
As we more forward over the next three
years, I will work to make the Staff Advisory
Board a forum which serves & reports
to all members of the University. I look
forward to your questions and ideas.
One of my priorities is alternative transportation
at UCSC, especially supporting bicycling
and mass transit. We have the best of
both worlds, an entertaining and often
informative bus or shuttle ride up the
hill, followed by an exhilarating ride
down with Monterey Bay in full view. Providing
alternatives is the best approach, whether
the topic is transportation or work site
issues.
I also enjoy tennis, bocce ball, ping
pong, yoga, water skiing, sailing and
dancing. Outside of sports, I have also
been involved in a few local political
campaigns in the community.
