Personal Statement: As a Kresge alum (’83)
and staff since 1994 I am committed to helping make UCSC the best place to work
and learn in California. I believe that providing the very
best working conditions for our staff is the right thing to do on a human level.
I also believe that contented staff members are better able to provide the best
service for our students.
On the Staff Advisory Board I plan to work to
help UC and UCSC to provide the training, compensation, benefits and amenities
which satisfy the needs of all UCSC staff.
I am particularly interested in UC and UCSC’s
long-term strategy for staff retention, training, succession planning, equitable
compensation and providing the
amenities which make this a great place to work. I hope to help UCSC staff
(myself included) to understand the University’s plans and to help the
University understand staff needs and concerns.
I have my own ideas about these things but I am
also very interested in communicating the views of all staff to the
appropriate groups within the University. Please feel free to share your ideas
with me.
I am in charge of classroom computing and work
with a fantastic group of people installing, running and maintaining media
equipment and training presenters in its use.
My personal interests include photography,
music, books, music, travel, food and the local history of Santa Cruz and UCSC.
