OS X

This page will help you connect your Macintosh running OS X. Before you start, make sure that you have connected your computer to the wall jack via an ethernet cable (CAT-5, 5e, or 6).

» Follow these steps

  1. Plug your network cable into the wall and into the network jack on your computer. Then, open the “System Preferences” item under your Apple menu.

  2. Click on the “Network” icon as shown to the right.

  3. Once opened, you should make sure it looks similar to the one pictured here, except your IP address will start with “169.233” . Restart your machine, and then it should be ready to check email, surf the web, etc. If you find that it is still not working or need other assistance, please contact the ResNet Help Desk (459-4NET).

Once you have your connection working you can configure your electronic mail software to connect to the campus email system. Information on how to do that for various email programs is available.
