About Residential Networking

The Residential Networking (ResNet) program at UC Santa Cruz is run as a partnership between The Colleges and University Housing Services (CUHS) department and the Information Technology Services (ITS) department to deliver internet service to residents in University housing.

ResNet maintains two office locations during the academic year where you can bring your machine to be serviced if you are having problems getting or staying on the network. Our offices are located at:

College 8, Room 258
Stevenson, Casa 11, Room 125

Our offices will be open extended hours during the first two weeks of Fall Quarter. Our extended hours during this time are 10am to 6pm, Monday through Friday and 12pm to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday. Our regular hours of operation are 12pm to 5pm Monday through Friday. You can also call our ResNet Help line between the hours of 10am to 5pm to get over the phone network support. You can reach us at (831) 459-4357. Choose the option to talk with ResNet.

Residence halls, apartments, Provost Houses, the University Inn and University Town Center have wired networking services through RJ-45 or "twisted pair" connections mounted in the wall. These connections are active throughout the year.

Apartments at Family Student Housing (FSH) have University-provided cable modem service. The modems are provided via the FSH central office at no extra charge, one per household.
