Emilia Garcia is a Chicana artist whose art depict the beauty and culture of her indigenous roots. Alma's Gifts in collaboration with El Centro invited the Santa Cruz community to meet the artist.

Chicana Latina Scholarship Foundation
Every year with Alumni Olga Talamante we provide the necessary tools for our students to apply for scholarships. The Chicana Latina Scholarship Foundation is dedicated to provide financial assistance to undergraduate Chicanas Latinas who want to pursue a higher education.

This event honors the memory of love ones who are no longer with us. In Dia de los Muertos we celebrate their memory that lives on with us.

The film follows the story of three Latina immigrant working in Los Angeles garment sweatshop. The film makers and one of the women were invited to the UCSC campus to discuss the film and what has hapen after the film was finished.
New Student Welcome
Every fall quarter we welcome the nw Chicano/Latino up coming freshmen by providing them with a taste of different student organizations on campus and resources.
Pan Dulce Friday's: "Don't Stop me Now"
The film dicussed students who are not giving up their dream to have a higher education do to their lega status. After the film there was a discussion around the issue of obtaining a higher education even if the student does not have the documents.

Elizabeth "Betita" Martinez is a widely known Chicana writer, activist, lecture and currently director of the Institude of Multicultural Justice in San Francisco. her latest book to be release was "500 years of Chicana Women's History." She was invited to join the UCSC campus to discuss her latest book, and sign.
The Healing Power of la Virgin-Tonantzin: Transformations, Appropriation, and Transgressions
This event celebrated and honored the Virgen of Guadalupe as a symbol of resistance and a source of replenishment and healing.
