LGBT SURVEYS

The general goal of this research study is to investigate the prevailing attitudes regarding the transgendered community amongst the general public. As a doctoral candidate at Spalding University in Louisville Kentucky, I am conducting a research project as part of a dissertation in clinical psychology. There are no direct benefits to you as a result of your participation. However, I hope that your participation will contribute to greater knowledge regarding this topic and may provide the basis for future research. I am requesting that you take the time to volunteer for this study. Please cut and paste the link provided to learn more about this study. Thank you. My dissertation is on lesbian, bisexual, and queer women's experiences in the college environment. My name is Carly Friedman and I am a graduate student at UC Santa Cruz in the Psychology Department. This study also examines how these experiences are related to both gender and sexual orientation identity. Little research takes a detailed look at sexual-minority womenÕs experiences and the studies that do rarely take into account gender as well. In contrast, this study will help us how womenÕs experiences influence various aspects of their life. To be eligible, participants must identify as female, identify as lesbian, bisexual, or queer, be currently enrolled in a college or university and be under 26 years of age. The online study is completely confidential and will take about 45 minutes to one hour to complete. All participants who complete the study will receive a $10 gift certificate for their time. The survey can be found at: www.psychsurveys.org/drfriedman/college_women

I am currently doing research on how meaning making (or how people understand their experience of themselves, others, and the world) may affect gay identity development. As a gay man myself, I want to understand more about how some people come to celebrate their gay identities while others struggle profoundly to accept themselves. I am seeking research volunteers to participate in this study.  Volunteers must be 18 years old to participate. In particular, I am interested in talking with gay men from a range of ages who are currently or were formerly religiously- or spiritually-affiliated. I am interested in hearing from these men about the ongoing experience of developing a gay identity in a culture that is less than supportive and may be experienced as harmful or oppressive. Participation in this study will involve completing two brief questionnaires and then being part of a two-hour interview. The interview will be conducted in person or on the telephone, but the questionnaires can be completed online or through postal mail. The interviews will be audio-taped, but the information received will be kept confidential. If you are interested in participating, please begin at this website:

Please share it with LGBTIQQ youth aged 13-21, or with community allies who might be able to forward the link to the youth they service. You will find below a template for a message you might want to send to youth. I am a PhD student in the Stanford University School of Education. I have been working on a survey about LGBTIQQ Youth Online since the spring, and the survey is now ready to collect data. Note that it has received IRB approval here at Stanford, and is perfectly anonymous. We are not collecting IP addresses, nor identifiers about the youth who fill it.
