Breathe on my books wrong and the badgers will get you.
Hi! Nice to meet you. I’m a Kresge sophomore, a Virgo, a Creative Writing major, and the library maven here at the Cantú Queer Center. (I’m also a sandpiper on my off-days, but don’t let that concern you.) I’ve been at neither the Center nor Santa Cruz as a whole for very long, but I’ve already fallen completely in love with both. The Center library is fantastic.
If you couldn’t tell, I love books. I love to read them almost as much as I love to write them. My forte is fantasy novels, but I’ve also been known to dabble in science fiction and realistic fiction—always involving, although not necessarily focusing on, gay or lesbian characters. I’ve also written a few short stories, although my idea of a “short story” is twenty-five pages long in size ten, single-spaced font. Go figure. I also love several other things, among them pastries, milk, cats, anime, Firefly, role-playing video games, Latin and Japanese pop, dancing, and men. (That last one is particularly high on my list!)
On the other hand, I dislike the rain (I shall now run for cover as angry Santa Cruzians chase me with cleavers,) spicy foods, and any form of arithmetic. Who cares how many cookies you’ll have if you divide fifty-six of them into eight equal groups? I’ll eat all of them and save you the trouble.
Speaking of cookies, I am deeply religious. I am a firm believer in the goddess TIRAMISU, who watches over the world with the aid of her oatmeal raisin cookie angels. Is there anything more divine than dessert? Of course not.
And just remember—breathe on my books wrong and the badgers will get you. Slowly and painfully.
Have a nice day!
