Porter College Transfer and Re-Entry
Students
Junior transfer students, re-entry* students and all students who
have more than 30.0 transferable units upon entry make up about
one-third of all incoming Porter College students each year. There
are many resources on-campus to aid the incoming transfer student.
For example, the Transfer Student Resource Center offers, through
STARS (Services to Transfer and Re-Entry Students) a study and lounge
area right up the street from Porter College at Kresge College.
The Center has programs designed to assist transfer students through
all stages of University life from pre-admissions through graduation.
STARS
Open hours at the Transfer Student Resource Center are usually
9:00-5:00 Monday-Friday, and you can contact them by calling 459-5899
or by e-mail to corky@ucsc.edu.
Re-entry students are defined as undergraduate students over the
age of 25, graduate students over the age of 29, those who have
had a substantial break in their academic work, and students with
children. At UCSC, over 12% of the student body are re-entry students.
