Computer Lab
Arts Computer Lab, in room D-240 and the Arts Visualization and Animation
Lab in room D-245, offers Macintosh computers, a wide variety of software
programs, printers, and other peripherals for students’ use
for word processing, artwork, and other applications. Student ID required
and some preference is given to students enrolled in computer arts
classes. Labs are run by Information Technology Services (ITS),
459-3884.
Dining
Hall/Theater Venue
The Dining Hall is located on the lower level of “C” building.
In addition to its use as a dining facility, it is a location commonly
utilized as a recreational and performance venue. The Dining Hall
houses AV equipment for use in conjunction with scheduled programs,
and a stage for plays and performances. Porter College has the largest
stage of the six UCSC dining halls. To reserve the Dining Hall for
an event, rehearsal, band practice or meeting, contact Activities.

Fireside
Lounge
The Fireside Lounge is located on the upper level of “C”
Building next to the Porter mailroom. The lounge is often used for
student organization meetings and residence hall events. Reservations are made at Activities Office,
459-2857.

The
Hungry Slug Café
The Hungry Slug is a place where one may hear live music in a relaxing
atmosphere. Student art shows in the Hungry Slug may be scheduled
with the Café manager.
C-002
Multipurpose Room
(C-002) is located downstairs from the Hungry Slug Café,
next to the Dining Hall patio. This space is used for college sponsored
courses, and may be reserved for rehearsals, band practice, meetings,
and lectures at the Activities Office 459-2857.
C-002 Hours and Guidelines.
The
Quad
The Quad, located between the two residence halls, is perfect for
outdoor relaxing, scheduled perfomances, flying disk, studying, etc.
Events must be scheduled through the Activities Office. Amplified
music is strictly regulated by college staff to protect the rights
of those living and working at the college to a comfortable environment.
The Quad may be scheduled for programming use through the Activities Office 459-2857.
Provost
House
Provost House is a site for academic and social events, as well
as the home of the Provost.
Study
Center
The Bill Bonema Study Center is located in “D” building,
by the Koi Pond. The Study Center is open to all students and is dedicated
to programs that support the academic needs of students. This area
provides students with space for quiet study, occasional academic success sessions, and a writing
tutoring program.

Galleries
The
Mary Porter Sesnon Gallery
The Mary Porter Sesnon is a professional art gallery, is located directly
above the Study Center in “D” building. Approximately
six professional exhibits are displayed over the course of the academic
year. For information on upcoming shows, contact the gallery’s
director at 459-2341.

The Faculty Gallery is located in the Porter (D-222). Faculty artists,
scholarship students and guest artists show in this space. Openings
often take place in conjunction with the Sesnon Gallery.

Gallery and James B. Hall Gallery
Bridge Gallery and James B. Hall Gallery are student exhibition spaces
in Porter College “C” building. Space is
reserved for Porter students or Porter classes. Applications are available
at Porter Activities. Annual exhibition schedule is posted on the Calendar
of Events.
