SUMMARY OF
DUTIES:
A Police Sergeant will develop and train subordinates,
encourage team work, and initiate community oriented solutions to problems in
the community. This position will be responsible for the work performance of
subordinates, including productivity, quality of work, ability to work as a team,
working relationships with the community and each other, and demonstrating
judgment in the field.
Knowledge
of:
Supervisory
experience and ability sufficient to communicate expectation, set goals and
objectives, give and receive feedback, and address disciplinary issues.
Promoting the principles of good personnel management, ethics and diversity.
Applicable
Must meet the minimum standards established by California
POST:
Be a
Be at
least 18 years of age;
Be a
high school graduate or have passed the GED;
Possess
a valid California Driver's License and a safe driving record;
No
felony convictions;
Pass
a criminal history check (fingerprints and police records);
Pass
a thorough background investigation of work and personal history;
Possess
the physical health, strength, stature, and agility to meet the physical
demands of police work;
Must
pass a pre-employment physical examination;
Possess
emotional maturity and psychological fitness as determined by a pre-employment
psychological examination.
