Campus Crime Summary - September 2007
During the month of September there were four theft reports. Thefts of computers along with personal items all occurred from locked and unlocked vehicles, from dining halls along with offices and dorm rooms. There were several reports of thefts of bicycles that were both locked and unlocked. Remember it is always a good idea to leave un-needed personal items in your locked office or dorm room when going to breakfast, lunch or dinner. There were two non-injury traffic accidents and one injury accident reported for the month of September. UCSC Police Officers issued a total of 39 citations for traffic, University, and Municipal violations. There were eight arrests during the month of September. Four affiliates were arrested for public intoxication. One affiliate was issued a citation for misappropriation of lost property. Another affiliate was issued a citation for driving while having a suspended license. One non-affiliate was arrested for public intoxication. Another non-affiliate was cited for trespassing. There was one hate/bias incident reported in the month of September where a swastika had been scratched into a wooded shingle near an entrance to Bayit Elie Wiesel Dorm at Oakes College . During the month of September the kiosk guards denied entry to approximately 264 people. Additionally the kiosk guards were called approximately 534 times, 360 of which were informational assists with general campus related questions. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 (referred to as the Clery Act) is part of the Higher Education Act. It requires institutions of higher education that receive federal financial aid to report specified crime statistics on college campuses and to provide other safety and crime information to members of the campus community.
