Campus Crime Summary - June 2008
During the month of June there were fourteen theft reports. Thefts of computers and personal items occurred from locked and unlocked vehicles, dining halls, offices and dorm rooms. There were six stolen bicycle reports. There were three injury accidents in June all involving solo bicyclists. There were eleven vandalism reports taken for graffiti and property damage. There were eleven arrests for the month of June. One affiliate and two non-affiliates were arrested for public intoxication. One affiliate was arrested for battery. Two non-affiliates were arrested for outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Two non-affiliates were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. One non-affiliate was arrested for being in possession of marijuana. One non-affiliate was arrested for driving without a license. One non-affiliate was arrested for reckless driving. Officers wrote 54 traffic related citations and warnings. Reminder: Starting July 1st 2008, a new vehicle code takes affect that prohibits all drivers from using a handheld wireless telephone while operating a motor vehicle.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 (referred to as the Clery Act) is part of the Higher Education Act. It requires institutions of higher education that receive federal financial aid to report specified crime statistics on college campuses and to provide other safety and crime information to members of the campus community. The UCSC Police Department and designated Campus Security Authorities are required to report these specified crimes.
