During the month of July there were eleven theft reports. Thefts of computers and personal items occurred from locked and unlocked vehicles, Dining Halls, Staff Offices and Dorm Rooms. Please remember to always lock your office or dorm room when leaving for any period of time. It is also extremely important to secure all ground floor level windows. There were four stolen bicycle reports taken in July.

 

There were two non-injury and two injury traffic accidents in the month of July. Both of the injury accidents involved bicyclists.

 

There are no arrests to report for the month of July.

 

Most theft of property crimes occur because the opportunity exists. Please do not leave your valuables inside your vehicle. Do not leave your room or office unattended for any amount of time. Close and lock your doors and windows. Take the time to help prevent crime. Remember predictable is usually preventable.

  • If you have an emergency dial 911.
  • If you would like to report a crime and remain anonymous call the Crime Tip Line at 459-3TIP (459-3947).
  • You may also report crimes confidentially via the Internet at http://police.ucsc.edu/crime.html.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 (referred to as the Clery Act) is part of the Higher Education Act. It requires institutions of higher education that receive federal financial aid to report specified crime statistics on college campuses and to provide other safety and crime information to members of the campus community. The UCSC Police Department and designated Campus Security Authorities are required to report these specified crimes.
