During the month of July there were thirteen theft reports. Thefts of computers and personal items occurred from locked and unlocked vehicles, dining halls, offices and dorm rooms. There were two stolen bicycle reports. There were two non- injury vehicle accidents in July. There were six vandalism reports taken for graffiti and property damage.

Officers made seven arrests for the month of July all arrestees were non-affiliates. Two were arrested for public intoxication. Three were arrested for outstanding and two were arrested for driving on a suspended license.

Officers wrote 63 traffic related citations and warnings.

Reminder: As of July 1st 2008, a new vehicle code takes affect that prohibits all drivers from using a handheld wireless telephone while operating a motor vehicle.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 (referred to as the Clery Act) is part of the Higher Education Act. It requires institutions of higher education that receive federal financial aid to report specified crime statistics on college campuses and to provide other safety and crime information to members of the campus community. The UCSC Police Department and designated Campus Security Authorities are required to report these specified crimes.
