During the month of July there were ten theft reports. Thefts of computers along with personal items all occurred from locked and unlocked vehicles, from dining halls along with offices and dorm rooms. There were several reports of thefts of bicycles that were both locked and unlocked. Remember it is always a good idea to leave un-needed personal items in your locked office or dorm room when going to lunch or dinner.

There were no non-injury traffic accidents and one injury accident reported for the month of July. UCSC Police Officers issued a total of 53 citations for traffic, University, and Municipal violations.

There were seven arrests during the month of July. One affiliate was arrested for burglary. One affiliate was arrested for arson. Another affiliate was arrested for driving under the influence.

One non-affiliate was arrested for having an outstanding warrant. Another non-affiliate was arrested for grand theft. One non-affiliate was arrested for public intoxication. A non-affiliate was cited for the possession of a controlled substance.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 (referred to as the Clery Act) is part of the Higher Education Act. It requires institutions of higher education that receive federal financial aid to report specified crime statistics on college campuses and to provide other safety and crime information to members of the campus community. The UCSC Police Department and designated Campus Security Authorities are required to report these specified crimes.
