Campus Crime Summary - August 2007

During the month of August there were seven theft reports. Thefts of computers along with personal items all occurred from locked and unlocked vehicles, from dining halls along with offices and dorm rooms. There were several reports of thefts of bicycles that were both locked and unlocked. Remember it is always a good idea to leave un-needed personal items in your locked office or dorm room when going to lunch or dinner.

There was one non-injury traffic accident and no injury accidents reported for the month of August. UCSC Police Officers issued a total of 58 citations for traffic, University, and Municipal violations.

There were six arrests during the month of August. Two affiliates were cited for vandalism.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 (referred to as the Clery Act) is part of the Higher Education Act. It requires institutions of higher education that receive federal financial aid to report specified crime statistics on college campuses and to provide other safety and crime information to members of the campus community. The UCSC Police Department and designated Campus Security Authorities are required to report these specified crimes.
