Campus Crime Summary - April 2008
During the month of April there were 17 theft reports. Thefts of computers along with personal items occurred from locked and unlocked vehicles, Dining Halls, Staff Offices and Dorm Rooms. Please remember to always lock your office or dorm room when leaving for any period of time. It is also extremely important to secure all ground floor level windows. There were 9 non-injury and 1 injury traffic accidents for the month of April. Five of these accidents involved solo bicyclists. UCSC Police Officers issued a total of 126 citations for Vehicle Code, University, and Municipal Code violations. There were 17 arrests during the month of April. Three affiliates and one non-affiliate were arrested for public intoxication. One non-affiliate was arrested for domestic violence. One non-affiliate was arrested for cultivating marijuana. One affiliate was arrested for vandalism and two non-affiliates were arrested for traffic offenses. One affiliate was arrested for a minor being in possession of alcohol. One affiliate was arrested for Petty Theft. Three non- affiliates were cited for being in possession of marijuana. Two affiliates were arrested for using stolen parking placards. One non-affiliate was arrested for leaving his dog in a hot car without water. There were ten reports taken for vandalism that included property damage and graffiti. Reminder this month is the national “Click it or Ticket” campaign, so wear your seatbelts.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 (referred to as the Clery Act) is part of the Higher Education Act. It requires institutions of higher education that receive federal financial aid to report specified crime statistics on college campuses and to provide other safety and crime information to members of the campus community.
