UCSC Sea Kayaking Classes Kayak classes will be offered in the fall and spring quarters. These classes will teach novice kayakers the skills you need to safely use the UCSC Sea Kayaks on their own in the Monterey Bay.
Students will learn: -About the equipment -Basic paddling strokes and maneuvers -Self and assisted deep-water rescues -Beach launching and landing through surf -Marine hazards -Navigation -Weather forecasts You will also build paddling strength and endurance while practicing these skills on the water. At the same time you will learn to respect and appreciate the natural wonders of the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary. Sea Kayaks provide access to otherwise unexplorable areas.
