1st Place Winner: "The Tree Skeleton"

Location: Sossusvlei, Namibia
Description: the “skeleton”of an
approximately 900-year-old dead tree in the Sossuvlei salt plan, which is located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The trees died but the wood does not decompose because it is so dry. Surrounding this tree are the tallest sand dunes in the world.

"Pool of Sacred Fish Mosque"

Description: This mosque, built in 1211 upon the supposed birthplace of Ibrahim (Abraham) now serves as a home to these sacred fish. Legend says that anyone who attempts to harm the fish will be stricken blind… needless to say, these are some of the best kept fish in all of Turkey!

Location: The Great Wall of China
Description: My friend and I hiked about three hours to this particular tower. We pitched a tent, and stayed for the night. This picture was taken at sunrise (about 6am). It was one of the few times in China that I was not surrounded by masses of people. It was tranquil and relaxing.
