The Meaningful Learning Research Group

Introduction
The Meaningful Learning Research Group is directed by Dr. Joseph Novak. We work with a number of common beliefs. Primary among these is the idea that the best way to teach is to determine what the student already knows, and then to teach from there. We also believe that teaching and learning which is grounded in a coherent theory of education has the best chance of improving education for everyone. Consequently, we generally advocate theory-driven, rather than method-driven educational research. Finally, since critical discussion is necessary to progress, we offer this web site as both an organized set of information resources, as well as an opportunity to participate in the work of our group.
Just a reminder: All publications on this web site can be downloaded for free.
