Merrill Community Programs Assistants (CPAs), ER#0565
Work Hours: Variable schedule, up to 15 hr/wk (contingent upon budget)
Description: General office assistance and reception, assist with closing the academic year, reorganization and cleanup of office and art facilities, organize photographs (digital and hard copy), help prepare for Summer Orientation, assist with the development and coordination of Fall Opening including move-in days and the Fall Orientation Program. Merrill Orientation Leader (OL), ER#2157
Work Hours: Varied, but dates include Move-in weekend, Fall Orientation, Spring Tours Preview Day and Graduation.
Description: Strong student leader, good communication skills, positive role model and ability to mentor new students throughout the academic term. Assist with move-in days and help implement fall orientation programs. Work closely with College Programs Coordinator, Assistant College Programs Coordinator, College Programs Assistants and Residential Assistants.
Pay: This is a volunteer position. Compensations include: Bay Tree Bookstore gift certificate, t-shirt, UCSC Boardwalk ticket, some meals, early move-in, priority housing and leadership training.
Resident Assistant (RA), ER#0519
Work Hours: 15-20 hours per week, but will include peak periods of up to 40 hours per week during training, student check-in, etc.
Description: Resident Assistants (RAs) are live-in student staff serving as peer leaders in the college residence halls and apartments. As part of the Residential Staff team, they are responsible for developing and maintaining community, providing social and educational programming opportunities, enforcing policy, addressing safety and security issues, and fulfilling administrative responsibilities. They utilize their leadership, peer counseling, crisis intervention, cross-cultural communication, and activity planning skills.
Pay: Compensation for RAs is in the form of a single room in the residence hall or a single room in a shared apartment, along with a designated 7-day meal plan. The value is approximately $12,300/year for 2007-2008.
Merrill Summer Work Crew, ER#3126
Work Hours: Full Time, 40 hours a week. M-F 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Description: Work with a fun group of your peers to get Merrill College looking pretty in time for Fall move-in. Tasks include painting, refinishing, and light maintenance. Experience is helpful, but a good attitude and work ethic are a must.
Pay: Starting pay is $9.50/hr. On-campus summer housing is discounted.
