![]() Small interactive discussion and problem solving sections for Students enrolled in Math 2 & Math 3 are encouraged to enroll in a twice a week LSS sponsored discussion section. Evaluation data indicates that students who have found these sections most helpful are students who are anxious about their mathematics preparation, prefer to engage in-group learning, and score below the mid-point of the required range on the math placement exam. Students who take this advice have passed Math 2 & Math 3 at a higher rate than expected. UCSC is now offering a 2 quarter version of Math 2, Math 2 Stretch. Students who experience math anxiety or who score below 18 on the Algebra Readiness Test (given the first day of Math 2) are encouraged to enroll in this 7 unit Math 2 Stretch class that includes small, twice a week interactive discussion sections. Intensive Writing Support for LALS 100A Students enrolled in Latin American and Latino Studies 100A have the opportunity to enroll in a co-requisite, 2-unit, writing intensive course.
