Program Summary

The Staff and Academic Reduction in Time (START) Program is a temporary tool that department heads, with the approval of their Principal Officer may offer to their organization to address the current serious budget deficit facing the University.

Effective July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2010, all regular status (non-probationary career) eligible staff and all academic personnel, except those in student academic titles and Postdoctoral Scholars may voluntarily reduce their time from a minimum of 10% to a maximum of reduction of 50% of full-time as long as the participants’ work schedules are not reduced below 50% time in any given month of participation.

Note:
For staff employees requesting participation in START effective the first of any given month, completed and approved START contract forms must be received by the appropriate HR Service Team no later than the last working day of the month prior to the effective date. Questions about the program should be directed to your HR Service Team Representative.

For academic personnel requesting participation in START effective the first of any given month, completed and approved START contract forms must be received by the appropriate divisional academic personnel coordinator by the last working day of the prior month to the effective date. Questions about the program should also be directed to the divisional academic personnel coordinator.
