Santa Cruz AIDS Walk
"Wharf to Bridges"
You're invited to join hundreds of participants for the 18th Annual AIDS Walk on Saturday, April 19, 2008. We'll be walking 10k -- from the Santa Cruz Wharf to Natural Bridges and back. The AIDS walk is held in the spring to raise money for HIV related programs and to increase HIV /AIDS Awareness in the community.
We'll kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a hearty breakfast (free), registration, speakers, and a warm-up by the dancers of Motion Pacific. The Walk starts at 11 a.m. and we'll have rest stops, cheerleaders and beverages along our West Cliff route. When you return to the Wharf, pick up your token gift and enjoy lunch at one of the many Wharf restaurants.
We are asking the community to help raise much needed funds for HIV/AIDS awareness and education programs by pledging a minimum of $100. It's simple as asking ten friends or family members for $10, and it's all for a great cause. All walkers who reach their goal will receive a commemorative t-shirt. We have great incentive prizes lined up for persons and teams who raise the most money. Proceeds from the AIDS Walk will make a huge difference in our community, particularly for persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The community's support will also allow important HIV education and prevention programs in the community to move forward.
