Graduate Organizations

Organization Purpose
Graduate Council An Academic Senate Committee made up of faculty and up to three graduate students. It makes recommendations about academic issues for graduate students. A campus ally for grads.
Graduate Division Located in Kerr Hall.  Does all the graduate student administrative work that your department does not do. 
Graduate Student Association (GSA) Organization by and for UCSC grads, funded by student fees.  All grads are automatically members.
Graduate Student Association Council The Graduate Student Association governing body.  Made up of department representatives who elect officers.  Meetings are open to everyone.  We go to meetings, set up events, fund events, and fund graduate student travel.
Graduate Student Commons This is a campus building devoted to graduate student needs and activities.  It houses the GSA office, but it is governed separately from GSA.
Graduate Student Commons Governance Board (GSCGB) This is the campus committee that runs the above-mentioned building.
TA Union This was formed to represent UCSC academic student employees in their collective bargaining with the university. It represents approximately 11,000 student employees across the University of California system and is affiliated with the United Auto Workers (hence its official name UAW Local 2865).
