-       Nick reminded people that they need to come and report to the GSA to get credit for being on a committee

Old Business Updates: CPB (Chelsey)

-       CPB $600/quarter needs a rep

-       Chelsey asks ÒIf thereÕs an individual whoÕs interested they can make a proposal, but we need someone on this committeeÓ

-       Proposals regarding time commitments can be discussed – we will be flexible

 

EVP Report (Teresa)

-       going to LA this week

-       Chelsey, Jess & Teresa went to congress this summer at UCSB and met with different UC campuses

-       Agenda/projects (more discussion next meeting)

-       Directives: disabled students – will get survey out to UC campuses inquiring about services available to disabled students

-       Parental leave – trying to get parental leave act in for grad students: 6 weeks paid leave for all grad students, right now only available to GSR & TA.  Trying to push it to 10 weeks

-       Voter registration (more discussion next meeting)

-       CA Dream Act (Matt) – Assembly bill 540 allows undocumented students to apply for resident tuition but not financial aid.  It didnÕt pass this year, but Matt will continue working on this.  We will email about events in the future so students can get involbved.  We do have a small budget for this.

 

Presidential Update (Chelsey)

-       thanks to new webmaster for putting forms up on the web for the Students of Color Caucus

-       SB1 – asked for $13,000 for travel grants

-       Glitter ball is postponed.  Shane Sanchez has to postpone that because a lot of people will be out of town this week.

-       Flyers on student of color conference will be going out soon (Teresa)

 

Funding Requests

-       Jessie (Anthropology) grad student conference. Asking GSA to fund $300 ÒEmerging Geographies: Mapping Tracking & TracingÓ & ÒMidnight Universe: Navigating MapsÓ  Their budget is $3500 and theyÕve raised $2000 so far.  Any grad students can come to the conference, %75 of the presenters will be from UCSC.  The money is for room rental fees, equipment, parking, posters.  Projected attendance ~100 people (~80 at the Midnight University).  The latest they could get $$ is late winter quarter

-       Motion to fund $150 (Teresa) this quarter & she can come back next quarter and ask for more  Pro: 19 App:0 Abs: 0
