Annoucements
1) The TA Union (UAW) is holding its first ever contested election. Ian motioned to send an email out all grads informing them that there will be an election. The motion passed.

3) CETGS. The committee for ethical treatment of
graduate students is collecting stories from students who feel they have been
treated unfairly. Please submit your
story at http://www2.ucsc.edu/gsa/committees/form.html.
4) Officer positions. There will be elections for officer positions at the end of May. Here are some brief descriptions of the officer duties.
a) President (by Kai). The president chairs the meetings and attends graduate council meetings. The president works with the Alumni Association and meets with the officers. Kai works on this job 8-10 hrs per week and makes $1600 per quarter
b) IVP (by Lisa). The IVP makes sure that very department rep has a committee and that every committee has a rep. The IVP runs the meetings if the president is not it attendance. The IVP sends out emails. Lisa makes $600 per quarter and works 2-3 hrs per week.
c) Secretary (by Allison). The secretary takes the minutes, interfaces with the web master, helps with the orientation, responds to emails sent to the GSA mailing address, meets with the officers, and develops the agenda. Allison makes $600 per quarter and works 5 hours per week.
d) Treasurer (by Meredith). The treasurer spends a lot of time on paperwork. The treasurer sends a lot of email. The great thing about the job is the exposure to the administrations. Meredith makes $800 per quarter and works 6-7 hrs per week.
e) EVP (by Ian). The EVP is a board member of the UCSA. The UCSA is a liaison between students, governor, regents etc. The EVP travels to other campuses, and discusses system-wide politics. Travel is covered. The EVP travels Friday through Sunday, once a month. The EVP makes $1200 per quarter.
New Business
1. UCSA Budget
Ian gave a long presentation explaining what UCSA does
-18 members of board of directors, 1 grad student and 1 undergrad from each campus
UCSA Budget
Total revenues 361,416 2005-2006 year
UCSC contributed $1850, the lowest amount of all of the UC campus’
UCSC – GSA pays $1.38 per student
Ian also went over all of the changes to UCSA budget
Motion to approve the budget – budget approved.
2. Motion to limit meetings to 1.5 hours (for 5-against 7 abstain 4 – motion not approved).
3. Ballot measure on health center. Chanda made a motion to endorse referendum
for health center and to add to the email listing. Motion passed
1) James asking for money for a film screening. Requested $200, costs $900 to put on event and he has raised $700 already Motion to fund fully at $200, 13-0-1 passed.
1) GSR pay. Kai reported that he will email a spreadsheet out to us and we will discuss next time.
1) Emily Moberg-Robinson is going to be the Councilor for the Graduate Division
on the Alumni Association Council. She'll represent all graduate student alumni.

3) Brian – summer bus pass for free!!! If you are a student who does NOT have a parking pass then your summer bus pass is free. If you have a parking pass then your pass is $2 a month (parking passes include scratch offs).
His suggestion – only go to taps if you FULLY plan to utilize the pass because TAPS will reevaluate this next year (depending on how much money they spent this year). Go down to TAPS office to get it – you may need to prove employment over the summer (i.e. get a letter from advisor).
