Driving
on campus
From the main entrance, continue on Coolidge Drive, going around
the big field (turning left onto Hagar isn't wrong, but it tends
to be slower due to pedestrians and construction). Coolidge curves
up the hill and into the forest, eventually turning into McLaughlin.
At the second stop sign you'll see a sign for Crown College and
the Lionel Cantú GLBTI Resource Center. Turn right. At the
next stop sign there's a juncture.
If
you have a "B" or "A" parking permit (see below),
or if it is after 8:30 pm on a weekday, or if it is a weekend or holiday,
take the middle fork down into the large parking lot. This parking
lot is free week-days from 8:30 pm- 7 am, and all week-ends. Drive to
the very end of the lot. On your right, you'll see the Lionel Cantú
GLBTI Center, which is one of two large redwood buildings (the one
with the rainbow flag in the window). Take the footpath up the hill.
The entrance to the Center faces away from the lower parking lot.
If
it is a non-holiday weekday before 8:30 pm and you do not have a "B"
or "A" parking permit, you can attempt to park one of
ten metered spaces down in the parking lot mentioned above, or in
one of the two metered spaces at Crown College. In this case, take
the right fork at the juncture toward Crown College. On your left,
you'll see two metered parking areas (2 hour limit, quarters only). From there,
walk towards the Crown College entrance. Across from the entrance,
you'll see a white mailbox. Take the right fork of the path down
the hill. The first building is the radio station KZSC. The Lionel
Cantú GLBTI Center is the second building.
Driving
from off campus
Take
Hwy 1 into Santa Cruz, which turns into Mission Street. From Mission,
turn onto Bay Street (away from the beach). This will be a right
turn if you are on Hwy 1 North, or a left if you are on Hwy 1 South.
Follow Bay through two stoplights. The third stoplight is at the
entrance to the campus, on High Street. Go through this light, and
you are now on campus.
Parking
To
buy a day parking permit (which costs $6), stop at the information kiosk
at the main entrance. If you are coming up to campus after 3 pm, a night parking permit costs $2. If the kiosk is closed, you can go to the
TAPS, the parking office. To get to the parking office, take a right
at the first light after the main entrance, then an immediate right.
This short road ends at the parking office. You can also go online
to the online parking permit application center.
If
you need to park in an accessible location:
There are two disabled parking spaces by the white mailbox. There's
also two disabled spaces halfway down the path (recommended if you
use a wheelchair since the path is steep).
If
you have questions or accessibility needs, please call call the
Center at 831-459-2468 or
e-mail
us at queer@ucsc.edu.
