UCSC Fire Department: Public Education Classes
CPR/1st AID: Classes offered twice monthly. Training includes: American Red Cross certification in CPR and 1st Aid.
Cost is $40 for one or both parts of class payable by cash, check or recharge. Recharges are sent from the Fire Department
at the conclusion of the class.
Community Emergency Response Team: The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people within our campus
community about hazards that may impact them at home or work. This 20 hour class provides training in basic disaster response
skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. There is a $75 per
person charge for this class.
Basic Fire Extinguisher Use: Upon request the Fire Department will provide training to your group on the basics of fire
extinguisher use. In addition to group requests we provide a monthly class for individuals on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. There
is no charge for this class.
Emergency Preparedness: This 1 hour class provides participants with valuable information for preparing for a emergency both
at home and at work. This is an ideal class for presentation at a staff meeting or other gathering. There is no charge for this class.
Child Care Center Visits: On a quarterly basis the fire department visits the Granary and the Child Care Center at Family Student
Housing to educate everyone on fire safety. There is no charge for this class.
AED: With the addition of several AED (Automatic External Defibrillators) at different locations on campus we can set up a training and
information session on their use. There is no charge for this class.
Specialized Programs: We can custom design programs for almost any group. We can provide information on fire safety, emergency preparedness,
hazardous materials, emergency medical services, or just about any topic pertaining to the services that we provide. Contact us with your needs and
