Financial Aid for Summer Session 2008

IMPORTANT: The deadline to apply for financial aid for all 2008 Summer Sessions has passed!

Undergraduate Students
Financial aid is available to assist UCSC students enrolled in 6 or more units in meeting the cost of attending summer session. Please read Questions and Answers for Students about Financial Aid for Summer 2008 to see if you are eligible to apply.

If you plan to attend summer session at UCSC there is no separate application to apply for summer financial aid. When you enroll in 6 or more units, you will automatically be considered for financial aid after you enroll in your summer session courses.

Your eligibility for summer session financial aid will be determined based on financial aid resources used during the 2007-08 academic year. If you received UC Santa Cruz Grant, Pell Grant, or Cal Grant funds during the 2007-2008 academic year and enroll in at least 6 units, you will be considered for Summer Session UC Santa Cruz Grant funds.

Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions.

Types of Summer Undergraduate Aid

Summer UC Santa Cruz Grants – If you received UC Santa Cruz Grant, Pell Grant, or Cal Grant funds during the 2007-2008 academic year and enroll in classes by the deadline, you may be considered for Summer Session UC Santa Cruz Grant funds to help with the cost of summer session.

Parents can borrow the up to the full cost of summer, less any financial assistance the student receives. Students who receive a Summer PLUS loan as their only means of financial aid during the summer must pay fees up front and get reimbursed once the loan is approved and disbursed.

Summer Aid for Graduate Students

Graduate students may borrow a Federal Direct Loan for summer if they enroll in Summer Session and if there is loan eligibility remaining from the preceding academic year. Students must have a 2007-08 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with UCSC at the time summer aid is requested. Some students enrolled in summer may qualify for limited funding from their academic departments.

Graduate students enrolled during summer in the five-quarter UCSC Education Master's program may apply for other funding including Cal Grant extensions if one was received as an undergraduate student.
