![]() Financial Aid for Summer Session We are no longer accepting Summer Session Applications Undergraduate Students If you plan to enroll at another UC Campus, you must complete and submit the UC Systemwide Summer Session Financial Aid Request form to our office no later than June 19, 2009. You may use summer aid awarded by UC Santa Cruz for attendance in a summer program at another UC campus. Types of Aid for Undergraduate Students Summer UC Santa Cruz Grants – If you received UC Santa Cruz Grant, Pell Grant, or Cal Grant funds during the academic year which ends in June and enroll in classes by our deadline, you will be considered for Summer Session UC Santa Cruz Grant funds to help with the cost of summer session. Federal Pell Grants - If you qualify and have not used the annual limit for the preceding academic year. Generally you will have used the limit if you enrolled full-time in fall, winter and spring quarters of the academic year. However, if you were enrolled part-time or you did not attend all three quarters, you may have remaining eligibility for summer. Federal Direct Student Loans - If you have not used the annual (or lifetime) limit for your grade level during the preceding academic year. Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) - Parents may submit a Summer 2009 PLUS Application to apply for a PLUS loan to help with the cost of attending summer session. Parents may borrow the up to the full cost of summer, less any financial assistance the student receives. Students who receive a Summer PLUS loan as their only means of financial aid during the summer must pay fees up front and get reimbursed once the loan is approved and disbursed. |
SUMMER AID DEADLINE Undergraduate students must enroll in at least 6 units for one or more summer sessions no later than June 19, 2009 to be considered for summer financial aid. Graduate students must enroll in at least 5 units. SUMMER AID FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS Graduate students may borrow Federal Direct Loan if you enroll in at least 5 units in Summer Session and if loan eligibility is remaining from the preceding academic year. Students must have submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to UCSC for the academic year ending in June when summer aid is requested. Some students enrolled in summer may qualify for limited funding from their academic departments. Contact your department for more information. Graduate students enrolled during summer in the five-quarter UCSC Education Master's program may apply for other funding including a Cal Grant extension if you received a received as an undergraduate student. SUMMER Living allowances The Financial Aid Office uses these living allowances to determine your eligibility for finanical aid. Allowances include all costs assoicated with enrolling in summer courses including fees, room and board, books, personal and transportatin expenses. |
